The Violinist
A woman plays mid-phrase, bow drawn across the strings, rendered in loose charcoal over a warm ivory ground with an olive branch sketched beside her. Her sleeve and skirt are washed in terracotta, the only colour in the piece besides the birds — a line of swallows that peel away from the scroll of the violin as though the music itself had taken wing.

The story
Drawn for a lounge that wants quiet rather than spectacle. The notes above her bow unravel into pencil spirals and then into birds, one after another, until the last swallow is barely a line — sound thinning into silence, or silence remembered as sound. The olive branch at her side keeps the room grounded while the music leaves it.
