The Grandmother
A grandmother and grandson meet forehead to forehead, laughing, rendered in loose charcoal over a lime-washed ground with a homestead of huts and acacias sketched behind them. A single leaf, painted in full colour, rests against his arm.

The story
Drawn for the entrance hall, where a household first greets its guests. The scene is a grandmother's welcome — unguarded joy, a child pulled close, the village she came from still visible at her back. The one green leaf is the only colour in an otherwise pencil-grey world, a small sign of life carried forward.
